The International Day of Non-Violence is marked on 2 October, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, leader of the Indian independence movement and pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence.

World Students' Day is celebrated on 15 October every year on the occasion of birth anniversary of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.

International Anti-Corruption Day has been observed annually, on 9 December.

World Poetry Day is celebrated on 21 March. Its purpose is to promote the reading, writing, publishing and teaching of poetry throughout the world and, as the original UNESCO declaration says, to "give fresh recognition and impetus to national, regional and international poetry movements".
