No.2 Letter to Electoral Officer

December 13, 2017

The Chief Electoral Officer
Nagaland : Kohima

Subject: REQUEST FOR MUTUAL COOPERATION ON CLEAN ELECTION CAMPAIGN

Dear Sir,

Warm Season greetings from the NBCC Office, Kohima.

In view of the general election in the State related for early next year coming close, the need for concerted effort from all concern, to usher in free and fair election, has become imperative and critical. In this conncetion we would like to request you to implement the Model Code of Conduct for Elections in letter and spirit. This we believe is an essential and vital tool for the conduct of free and fair eletions and strict implementation of the same will certainly be a great impetus to the Clean Eelection Campaign (CEC) initiate by the Church.

You may be pleased to know that relevant information on guidelines, dos and don’ts on elections has been disseminated to the grass-root level through the central Clean Election Campaign Core Committee and its subsidiary Core Committees in the Association level covering all the district headquaters. Moreover, action plans to be carried out both in the urban and rural areas have been framed. Meanwhile, to accentuate the CEC effort kindly direct all the Deputy Commissioners and Sub-division Administrative officers to support the Clean Election Campaign activities.

Collective decision of a village or community to support a particular political party or candidate is a serious concern. This is detrimental to the effort of free and fair election and such practices must be restrained at all cost. Your timely intervention on such matters will be highly appreciated. Finally, but not the least, kindly extend due support and regards to the CEC Core Committee at the Association level as and when pertinent information, bearing mutual interest, are brought to your attention for necessary actions.

We vouch our ardent commitment to the cause of a free and fair election and we hope that our joint effort will be complementary and enriching. Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
